DAYNAME Function - SQL
Overview
The DAYNAME function in SQL returns the name of the weekday for a given date. It is useful for retrieving the day of the week from a date expression.
Example:
SELECT
DAYNAME('2000-01-01')
Syntax:
SELECT
DAYNAME(date)
date
is the date from which you want to extract the name of the weekday.

Example: Hard-coded value
In this example, we are returning the name of the weekday for the date ‘2000-01-01,’ the final output is ‘Saturday.’
Example: Query without the WHERE Statement
In this example, we are returning the name of the weekday for all of the rows in the birthday column.
Example: Query with the WHERE Statement
In this example, we are returning the name of the weekday for the rows in the birthday column where the first_name column equals ‘Kelly.’
