ABS Function - Excel


Overview


The ABS function in Excel is a useful tool for returning the absolute value of a number. The function provides the positive value for a numeric value, regardless of its original sign.

An example of the ABS function in Excel

Example:

=ABS(-11)

Syntax:

=ABS(number)

number: This is the numeric value for which you want to find the absolute value.

In this example, the ABS function takes in cell C2 which has a value of -11 and gives us the output of its absolute value which is 11.
