RAND Function - Excel


Overview


The RAND function in Excel is a useful tool for generating a random decimal number between 0 and 1. This function will return a pseudo-random number, recalculating whenever the worksheet is recalculated or when a new formula is entered.

An example of the RAND function in Excel

Example:

=RAND()

Syntax:

=RAND()

The RAND function does not take in any arguments.


Example


In this example, the RAND function gives an output of a number between 0 and 1, the final output is 0.0929205.
